This week quite a few different things happened relating to consumer electronics. This week wasn’t as big as last week which was CES 2012 but it was a pretty decent week. One of the bigger things that happened relates to an education event Apple held in New York City where Apple announced something called iBooks 2 which is basically going to bring textbooks to the iPad. Apple is starting with high school textbooks which will cost or less, the books are very interactive, and Apple has a new editor that makes making textbooks easier. Samsung posted a CES 2012 wrap up video and that video showed off something unexpected. And that is what is possibly the Samsung Galaxy S III. We just see Samsung demoing their WiFi cameras with a never before seen smartphone that seems like a mix between the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II. It looks like just a mockup phone now but it could possibly be the Galaxy S III. AT&T will be the first carrier to get the Nokia Lumia 900 exclusively later in March. But it looks like later in the year some time in the third quarter other carriers could get the smartphone. Meaning Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile have a chance to get the first real Windows Phone. But AT&T has new data plans to compete with the other carries. The new plans cost more and they give you quite a bit more data. THe new plans are 300MB, 3GB, and 5GB which are pretty good plans. You can keep the plans you already have if you don’t really like the new data plans. Sprint announced …
This is the “gaming” computer I use currently, and this is also to show why I want to get a real game computer, which I have never had a proper one despite playing games on the computer my whole life, next to owning consoles, most of which I didn’t pay for including my computers. this was the last one I didn’t have to pay for, and for what it cost, I could have got a near top of the line Alienware, or even a top of the line game desktop in 2008. I keep mentioning in my videos that I want a game computer, so this is to show why.

There were several tablets (running Ice Cream Sandwich) that were running some sort of application, whether it be a simple application or a resource-intensive 3D game. They were all having their display mirrored to an HD TV that was right above the unit. Performance is incredible, and it’s interesting to see how far portable computing power has really come. There were some ARM-based tablets that were running Windows 8, but they were locked up in a glass box. Many gaming PCs were on display, including both desktops and laptops. There were a few gaming laptops that were crazy thick, which don’t seem practical in a laptop. Lastly, there were some expensive racing rigs setup, one of which was motion controlled. Both rigs had a triple-monitor setup (3D capable) with iRacing going. Website: thetecherra.com Brian’s Twitter twitter.com TTE’s Twitter: twitter.com
